The Fisherman’s Story
“There were a group of fishermen, and one of them never caught anything. When they checked his hook, it was straight. They laughed. “How can you catch fish with that?” The old man smiled and said, “I’m waiting for a special fish.”
Rumours spread all the way to the king, who asked to see the fisherman, but the fisherman refused to come. He said, “I am still waiting to catch a special fish.” The king was surprised, and decided to go to see the fisherman himself. He asked, “What fish are you looking for?” The old man said, “You, Your Majesty. You are my fish.”
The lesson is simple: When your hook is straight — when you live honestly — you may not catch much at first. But in the end, truth always attracts what’s greatest. Only those who fish with a straight hook catch the king.”
